Rose and Thorne: Battle at the Botanical Gardens
A middle grade superhero book Series
One sip of a secret experiment from a secret lab changed everything.
But wait, let’s back up a little. Before that happened, everything in Rose and Thorne’s life was totally normal. (Well, mostly normal.) Take Thorne, for example. All he wanted was to finish one more level before tackling his homework.
But when he’s caught slacking off (again!), his gaming dreams are crushed. The punishment? Grounded. And sentenced to spending his day cleaning the basement with his twin sister, Rose—who, of course, had her homework done and was already cleaning the basement. So get this, just when Thorne thinks his day is beyond ruined, he and Rose stumble on something impossible: a secret laboratory, hidden behind a false wall IN THEIR BASEMENT.
They know it belongs to their mom. Because they know she’s a stay-at-home scientist with a secret lab. So sampling the goods wouldn’t be bad, right?
And that’s when everything changes. Thorne gets the best super power ever. Rose gets a power too. Only it’s not as cool as Thorne’s. But no matter the coolness level, both of them know they absolutely must keep their powers secret. But hiding secret superpowers in real life is A LOT harder than it looks on TV.
When two menacing villains threaten to use the plants in the city’s Botanical Gardens to commit a horrible crime, the twins face their ultimate boss battle.
Now that things are real, Thorne is pretty sure he doesn’t want to fight crime. Video games are much safer, plus you get points. There are no points for kids with secret super identities. With danger closing in, Thorne finds himself in the center of a big problem. On one side are two villains and one big crime. On the other side is his goody-two-shoes sister. She’s going to fight the villains no matter what.
So yeah. No points. Real danger. Can’t tell anyone about it.
No pressure or anything.
