About Suzanne

I write adventurous, silly, fun stories for curious kids and families who still believe imagination matters.

I’m a wife, mother of five, and someone who has spent an embarrassing amount of her adult life in schools. On purpose.

I’ve taught elementary, middle school, and high school and I’ve run a few schools. So I know kids. I know what they like to read and I know what bores them and makes them throw books across the classroom. (Trust me.)

Plus, I never stopped reading kid lit. Good kid lit retains a sense of wonder about the world. Anything – literally anything – can happen. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The Secret Garden. A Little Princess.

My first book (Benedict Barnabas vs the Ballistic Banshee) was published in 2016. But the thing I’m proudest of is the day I found out my twins had smuggled two copies into their 4th grade classroom and the book was making the rounds (getting glowing reviews).

In addition to writing, I’m an avid reader, a dedicated killer of houseplants and sourdough starter. Chickens are my favorite animal. Why? Because, chickens are beautiful, funny, and the only pet it’s socially acceptable to eat.
